Hello and welcome to first grade room 101!! I want to start by introducing myself and saying how
excited I am to begin my 13th year of teaching at Garvy. This will be my 22nd year of teaching. I
began my career as a second grade teacher at St. Juliana School on the northwest side of Chicago. I
taught there for one school year and then decided to teach in Chicago Public Schools. I began
my career with CPS at George B. Armstrong in Rogers Park.During my tenure at Armstrong, I worked towards an endorsement in English as a Second
Language and received a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis
University. As a first grade teacher, I achieved National Board Certification in November, 2010.
During the 2019-2020, I renewed this certification. Learning is a lifelong process, and I look
forward to continuing my education while at Garvy!
First grade is such a fun and rewarding year. Your child will grow in many ways both
academically and socially. I am so thrilled to be part of this experience with you
and your child...let the adventure begin!!!!
