About me

Hi! My name is Angela Lopez and this is my 3rd year as Garvy's reading interventionist.  Throughout my 24 years in CPS and at Garvy, I have worked as a general education teacher in kindergarten through third grade.

My role as reading interventionist is crucial in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed in literacy.  As an interventionist, my primary responsibility is to assist in identifying students who may be struggling with reading and provide targeted support customized to their individual needs.  This involves assessing each child's reading ability through various diagnostic tools and teacher observations.  Based on these assessments, I develop personalized intervention plans that focus on specific areas such as phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension strategies.

I am excited about the opportunity to work with your children and help them become confident readers.  Together, we can make a significant impact on their literacy skills and overall academic success.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's reading progress.
